PLP OFFERS FREE VIC/JOB FILE PROCESSING FOR XEROX WIDE FORMAT 721P AND KIP 8000 PRINTERS

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – July 14, 2003 – PLP Digital Systems, the leading digital reprographics solutions provider, today announced a promotion for PlotWorks® VIC/JOB file processing for the Xerox Wide Format 721P and KIP 8000 printers. This software solution enables reprographers to process Océ Repro Desk VIC and JOB files for output to either device.

PlotWorks increases the productivity of both the Xerox 721P and the KIP 8000, providing significant labor savings. With this configuration, operators can manage numerous printers and scanners, regardless of the manufacturer, from one workstation. Additionally, users can process VIC and JOB file formats, seamlessly integrating either device in an Océ Repro Desk environment.

According to Clint Shultz, reprographics manager at County Blue in St. Louis, the KIP 8000 / PlotWorks combination tripled his printer’s output. "Last month, we printed 250,000 square feet of paper on the KIP printer using PlotWorks," Shultz said. "Previously, we printed about 80,000 square feet a month. This is a very fast hardware-software combination."

One reason for the improved productivity is continuous printing, Shultz said. "With my other printers, I have to stop them to reload paper. Running the KIP 8000 through PlotWorks, I can run non-stop, even when we’re loading paper."

Chuck McCann, president of Springfield Blue Print in Springfield, Mo., said the greatest benefit to his business has been "the ability to control all our output devices from one work station. One person can click a mouse and start printing on several devices. All they have to do is change paper and go."

"But if different staff members are doing different types of jobs, the devices can also be run from multiple workstations," McCann said. "We really love the flexibility of PlotWorks."
